Walk in Shower - water problems?
For those of you with a walk-in shower without a door, do you have problems with water spashing on the tile outside the shower? Any tips on preventing this?

motherbear Proper construction & design along with proper placement of fixtures would keep splashing to a minimum.

Melinda Faranetta I designed a second floor master bath addition for an elderly woman with a walk in shower. The whole bathroom floor was designed and installed the same as the shower floor to prevent any damage from water. The floor outside the shower does not get any more wet than the floor of a traditional shower with a door. It comes down to size of shower, layout and type of fixtures, opening placement and correct installation by contractor.

garnatmom You should check out wet rooms, we are planning our master bath renovations, and I can't wait for it to start we are going with a wet room, shower on one side tub on the other, in between we will have hooks for towels and robes.

Innovate Building Solutions Here are a few thoughts to prevent water from coming out:

- Use a curved glass wall (this will keep the water in because it will move the water towards the drain) - one idea of cost effective curved walls is to use glass blocks - clear glass curved walls can get expensive).

- Use a rain head (it keeps the water more concentrated).

- Put in a hand held shower so you can direct the spray better than a stationary shower head

- The wet room concept mentioned above is also a good one - I'm going to include a link to an article about wet rooms designs below.
