Can I paint laminate kitchen cupboards?
My kitchen is only 5 years old, but I'm ready to change it all. I'm looking at zinc or soapstone counters, and I want to make the cabinets lighter for contrast. Can I paint them, or do I need to re-face?

Emily Hurley HI Nicki, Did you paint the cabinets? I actually really like the look of what you have already. I have heard GREAT things about Rustoleum transformations for changing the look of cabinets, though I've never used them myself.

Cancork Floor Inc. Yes, laminate cabinets can be painted. The main concern is getting the right PRIMER for the job. So long as you match the primer to the surface, paint will grab the primer!!! It takes a little bit of investigation as to what primer is recommended for what type of laminate, but in the end, the answer is, "Yes, laminate cupboards/floors can be painted".
