We are trying to decide what color garage door to go with. The brown would be similar to the front door, but might not match exactly. The window style is the Stockton Carriage Style. (Sorry I don't know how to post each picture)
victorianbungalowranch I would go with the brown. The doors are widely separated and don't have to match exactly. I couldn't open the link to see, but white garage doors can really dominate a facade. What color is the rest of the house. What will the siding be like?
Incidentally, a nice window or decorative vent in the gale of the garage would be nice, and in the top gable over the door too. Thicker tapered square porch posts would really make the porch look more substantial. Beefing up the window and door casings would be nice too.
minibird I just decided on the exact same situation you have. My front door is similar, and our windows are architectural brown. We have a double garage and was worried that two brown doors may overwhelm the home. But in the end I went with brown, because I think white would have looked out of place.
Katie Elizabeth Thanks for the posts everyone. We ended up going with a white garage door. We were concerned that the brown would make the house appear smaller because it is such a large door. The rest of our trim and such was white as well. It looks great I think, Im happy. I'll try to take a exterior picture of the whole house today. Its very chilly out this morning!
kitasei It is attractive, but as predicted, a white door dominates the facade. I would think a white front door would balance it out, along with the other suggestions about heavier columns and trim.
