michigammemom I would suggest a deep blue similar to this inspiration room. Notice how the blue color brings out the the rich wood tones of the antique sideboard that looks very similar to your gorgeous piece. I would also suggest that you remove the small demilune table and extra chair so that the sideboard, tall buffet and antique chandelier have more importance. Likewise remove the floral table cloth and dress your table with fresh flowers. Tall candlestick lamps with smaller shades would suit the sideboard.

Design & Decor By Shelley Wow I absolutely love this room and your furniture, right up my alley as they say! So, I would like to suggest a blue along with michigammemom..It looks like you have a yellow tone in your adjacent room? I would find a blue that compliments this other (yellow) colour..I am thinking the blue should have a grey undertone rather than a green.
You could keep your area rug as it has a nice blue in it..The table cloth should be removed to display the beautiful wood.
Keep your trim a soft white..
I like your lamps however, I agree they should be removed, also the doily type runner should be removed, your antique pieces are incredible and you should show them off..
remove the glass bowls on the top of your china cabinet..Looks a bit cluttered, the clock will really stand alone quite nicely.
The less cluttered you have this dining room the more elegant this room will look..Show off those antique pieces. If you are entertaining at the table find a nice simple table linen in an antique white and accent it with your napkins, say in a blue floral..
Absolutely beautiful space..I think I said that already!
Good Luck...
