Need help "jazzing" up new Family Room
We just added on to our house and built this wonderful Family Room. Using our existing furniture and painted the walls Benjamin Moore Bronzed Beige. I need help jazzing up a bland space. Any budget-friendly suggestions? Please provide sources for any product recommendations. Thanks!

olldbobbi Great room! (Pardon the pun) Well, you have all the basics, sofa, chairs, tables and lamps. Perhaps a colorful area rug and some artwork on the walls would spice things up a bit. Perhaps over the piano you could use old sheet music: [houzz=French Larkspur] or if you have, or can find some lp covers: [houzz=Boy's bedroom] or something simpler [houzz=Musical Notes Plaque, Set of 4]

For the wall area near the two chairs: [houzz=Handrail] or just a pretty piece of art: [houzz=Fine Art Bird Photography Print Flock by Bomobob]

Deborah Butler, Brickwood Builders This space definitely needs a rug with some color in it.

Natalie Hello-Bobbi gave some wonderful suggestions. A sofa table behind the sofa and a rug would be nice additions. I also would like to tell you that all your colors are WARM, add some cooler hues in there. Hope this helps...

olldbobbi Great ideas, Natalie! Sofa table and a great rug.

Jamieson Great suggestions above! The only thing I'd include is an organic element...plants are our friends! If you don't have a green thumb try a collection of botanical prints
For a rug I'd go a print with a whack of color similar to below.
Good luck, and enjoy your new family room!

Committed Photography, Inc. Lovely room. Be sure to take a look at a few of these art pieces. Everything we do is custom made (at a great price). You get to select the size, material, and whether you want us to custom frame it or not.

Budget concious tip: Our frames are top quality but we do give you an option to just purchase the print which will save you on the purchase price and the shipping ;)

Let us know what you think or if you had something a little different in mind.

Enjoy!!

anitajoyce Could you turn all the furniture to face the long wall and place the tv cabinet on the long wall also? I think the furniture would look better that way. A nice rug and pictures in abstract art would look nice also.

Elise I like the wall stripe idea. Wide, vertical stripes in a lighter tone and different sheen of the same paint color are a subtle way to go for a wall effect.

Keep your couch and get rid of the beige overstuffed chairs. Check out these chairs on this link and think about a bright fabric print on the upholstery then echo it or coordinating colors in the cushions.

Art prints; consider taking photos and having them enlarged and printed at a shop for you. Call around and find out who has that capability. Then you can have custom photos of family or places you have visited and frame them as well.
