Matching or mixed throw pillows?
Two white sofas and the rug is a stone grey and muted gold wool/silk.
Not sure what to do with pillows?

michigammemom Love your elegant fireplace and monochromatic color palette. I would stick with a mix of sophisticated neutrals to dress up your slip covered sofas.

lovedesign83 I think that u should add pops of a color, like bright pops of red or orange (if you want you room to bright) or you could have a cream or a light like baby blue (if you want it to be calm). HOPE IT HELPED;D

Stanton Designs-online design services You options for pillows are endless with the colors currently in your room. You can go for bright bold patterns and mix and match. or you could go for subtle colors and play around with textures. Both pictures posted above are great examples and should help you lean towards one direction.

Carolina Photo To Go LLC I agree with Stanton Designs. To make your search easier go to Etsy.com and put pillows in their search engine.

Roots and Rafters Definitely mixed color and pattern. Right now your room is very neutral -- which is fine in itself, but it could certainly benefit from some liveliness in accessories.

I would recommend keeping pillows in the same "genre," however. If you like bold graphic prints, choose several graphic prints. If you like florals, choose several florals. If you like interesting textures, choose several textures. Mixing pillows of different genres can look cluttered sometimes.

Below are some matchups that illustrate what I mean.

anitajoyce I'd use tone on tone pillows with the white sofas. Use tan like the color in your rug with white and maybe some brown in them in stripes , flowers and solids.

Marie Hebson's interiorsBYDESIGN Inc. Hi jenny6678, Marie here. I've attached two photos - same fireplace, two completely different looks. With white sofas and a gold area rug, your options are endless. I suggest finding that inspiration point (picture, toss cushion, etc.) that ONE thing that will set the mood for the entire space. You really have a lot of options, and it is important for you to decide which direction it needs to go.Once you have that inspiration, I'd be happy to answer your question which way to go...

INSIDEOUT Modern and Traditional Jenny, Such an elegant restraint combined with exuberant children! Unabashed joy, so sweet. You have done such a lovely job creating a neutral palette you are rewarded with the opportunity to change with the seasons. How about a set of pillows and accessories that are green for summer, orange/red for fall, brown for winter, purple for spring plus holiday colors. Some solid, some patterned. Great setting for so much, lucky you!

liv4evr Love the room-love the couches and rug! Since the coffee table is rather rustic/modern, I would tie in all elements and add some Turkish Kilim pillows with different patterns but similar, vibrant colors. They don't have to be expensive; there are some beautiful ones on Ebay and Etsy for 13 bucks and up. Maybe add a leather one or a lamb pillow for texture (same colors), done!

karenemmamartin Love the look of your room, very french! What about some rustic type cushions, made from old flour bags, or burlap? There are some lovely natural looking pillows around with french words or pics that would add to the french provincial look if you enjoy. Sure less bright, but I do like neutrals, it has a soothing feel esp when vibrant children fill one's space. See attached idea, two from target, or burlap pillow from Petite Coterie.

webesj Where did you get the coffee table? Love it. What about a side table or print accent chair?

Gabberts Design Studio Gorgeous room! Definitely add pops of color on your sofa in the form of pillows and a throw. It is an easy way to add color and fun, and because it isn't a huge investment, they can be changed seasonally.

kimcaprio Just starting to do a beach house and have the same white look. Found a great Ikat fabric at Artlee Fabrics that is white with both gray and tan and then bright yellow and a touch of bright aqua. Gives lots of flexibility to pull in other colors

sjmom Depending on how many you're planning to have, why not use both mix and match? Perhaps, some plain and some with design. If affordable change them with the seasons for a little variety.

9809mv Totally agree with INSIDEOUT.I have the same situation (white sofas, neutral palette) and love to change pillow covers with the seasons.
Love your rug! I suggest you pick up that golden tone and add some fall colors like burnt orange, dark red. grey, purple, browns whatever you like best. I'd rather use muted colors (white feels cold with bold colors which works great during hot season) different textures and some patterns.
Play with different sizes and display the color you like best with some accessories throughout your room (vases, twigs with berries, flowers, objects..) Invest in some really good inserts and get pillow covers to change (like budget friendly solid velvet ones from Ikea for fall/winter, linen ones for spring/summer).

lezzzza Great patterned linen look prints trending now. Animals; octopus, owls, crows would be fun. Nautical or other sea life. Florals, insects, butterflies.... Muted almost sepia tones some with a pop of color. Accent with solid in same color family. Or cozy cable knits in a varity of neutrals and a couple in a single bold accent; tangerine, fucshia, mustard or lime!
