Repurposing some old furniture I acquired with a fresh coat of paint.
I don't have a picture of what the furniture looked like before, but all the pieces were stained very dark and covered in dark florals. I painted all the pieces and recovered them, added throw cusions and now I just love how they look. I even found an old brass chandelier that is in the picture and sprayed it a cream colour. Repurposing old furniture was extremely cost effective and fun!

Mark Try dressing up your chairs by adding a skirt to the bottom. This can be a permanent covering or a slipcover. Either way it makes a chair look more substantial and would make beautiful diningroom chairs or an extra chair for a bedroom or livingroom. Sometimes having too many pieces of furniture with bare legs in a room can be too much. Sometimes showing too much leg is not a good thing :)

Mark In a small area off the kitchen we made a sitting room. To open up the small space we made a faux window. The three panels were once a dividing screen with fabric. We replaced the fabric with mirrors and added columns on each side and added an arched pediment on top and there you have it a large faux window !

Mark Thanks elvasue! The mirrors are not to much work to keep clean, they stay clean for quite along time. The colour of the walls are "innosence" by Behr from Home Depot. They are a very pale cream.

Mark I just finished my bathroom and I just love the colour of the walls. It is called "Pale Honey" also by Behr from Home Depot. Here some pictures. I designed the large Mirror over the vanity, also to look like a large window, it really opened up what was a small space.

Mark I also think that if you have to put up shower curtains as I did in my bathroom I always think it is a good idea to bring them as close to the ceiling as possible and to the floor because it really does add height. I do this with all my curtain treatments in my home. Illusions are the best tricks in design and if you don't have high ceilings, make them look as high as you can.

elvasue Will you be my interior decorator? I LOVE everything you do!!!!! Again, I love everything about this bath! The mirror is AWESOME and the curtains and chandelier!!!! YOU ROCK!

elvasue How did you design the mirror??? You have a carpenter cut out your design? I'd LOVE a mirror like that!!!!!!! Betty from New Orleans :-D

mln7754 Wow, Mark! Another amazing project. Love your style and still wish you lived in the Bay Area, California! I'd be your best friend/customer! :-)

Mark Hello Betty ! If I was not so far away I would love to design your home. I actually did a life size template of the lattice part pf the mirror to make sure it was exactly how I wanted it to look., then took it to my carpenter and told him to frame it with trim and the columns you see down to sides. The mirror itself is put on first then just like a picture frame the wood casing ( lattice and columns are put over top. You see more and more new houses putting up smaller framed mirrors in the bathroom now and taking down larger mirrors. I think that is just silly, a larger mirror can look fabulous and creates more depth to a room, when designed properly.

Mark Thanks mln7754 ! If I lived in the Bay area I'd love to decorate your home and of course new friends are always nice.:)

elvasue I agree wih you about the large mirror - IF it has a beautiful wood casing like yours and I agree about the curtains being as high as you can go in a bath - IF they are beautiful curtains like yours and cover the curtain rod like yours. I look though 100's of pictures of "designer rooms" and maybe find 3 or 4 that I like. I truly LOVE every little thing that you do and the whole effect is just FABULOUS! How can I see you on Facebook? I asked to be your friend. Betty Kennedy :-)
