I need help finding the right blinds for my bedrooms?
We live in a 1957 split and each bedroom has 2 small windows. Should I get all the same blinds for each room and accent in other ways? If so, what do you recommend? I have two little kids, so I like the idea of cordless, but then again I survived being raised with cord blinds. Thanks!

olldbobbi Are the windows the same size? Are they on the same wall? I live in a 67 ranch and the two windows that face the street have the same blinds. Different curtains, but same blinds. I believe the view from the street should be uniform.

feeny Agree with Bobbi that the view from outside should be the same if possible. LOVE cordless blinds--great innovation. I like honeycombs as the double ones can also insulate in winter, which is needed where I live.

Dytecture If they are corded blinds there is an option to install hooks on the wall so they are out of reach for children.

Carolyn Albert-Kincl Design Concentrate your money elsewhere and go with simple faux wood blinds on the bedroom windows. Don't add draperies. Add interest to the room in other ways that you can view in the photo section of houzz. Just enter kid's rooms.

Kelli Kaufer Designs Faux wood blinds that match the color of your trim and I would definetly add side panels, from ceiling to floor and extend the curtains 6"-12" past the outside window trim. Simple and clean, panels add warmth and draw your up, creating height in a room.

Carolyn Albert-Kincl Design It's rare that I would put drapery panels in a kid's room. Perhaps if you're doing a really high end frilly girl's room. Otherwise, I would spend the money elsewhere.

JMittman Designs I agree with Carolyn, You would need at least 12 yards of fabric for those two windows in the kids room. I would sooner use those $ in a living room etc. I like woven wood blinds too. And YES CORDLESS in kids rooms. All corded blinds today need to meet new safety standards--if you get corded, make sure they are compliant. You could also add a soft cornice over the blinds/shades--for added color pop. This picture is not the greatest, but it is a soft cornice/blind combo. Personally, I don't think you need all the same blinds in every room.

Carolyn Albert-Kincl Design There are some wonderful ideas there, but I still favor simple blinds unless there's a large budget involved or a mom who's great at the sewing machine.

Kelli Kaufer Designs Curtain panels for around 20 bucks can do wonders in a room! Another option, fun print roman shades!
