My master bathroom dilemma!
My master bath is tiny! And I'm having difficulty figuring out how to update it. The floors are tiled and unfortunately I am not wanting to tile the shower or walls etc. I do plan on painting it a light green possibly. My biggest problem is space! The corner cabinet is awkward and leaving the back corner empty and unused. Also I have no where to keep things! I have a black storage tote next to the sink for counter space. What can I do to improve counter space and make the corner look useful? Thanks

olldbobbi The cabinet next to the toilet - is that the corner cabinet you're talking about because I don't see another one.

Start by removing the door and trim. Fill the holes created by this and paint to match the wall color. Add shelves where there are none, and matching baskets for the shelves. This will give you a ton of neat storage.

Make a skirt for your sink. Make sure the fabric you use is washable. You can connect the skirt to the sink with Velcro. More baskets behind the skirt, more storage.

Now that you've removed the door to the cabinet, you can add shallow shelves above the toilet. Purchase some decorative glass containers to hold q-tips, cotton balls, soaps, etc. to put on these shelves.

If you must have your blow dryer out, buy a wall mounted holder for it, check any organizing specialty store.

StoneMar Natural Stone Company LLC There are many wall-mounted wash basins that have side areas that could extend next to your sink. Another option is to have a custom counter fabricated from granite with a "guitar" shape that leaves a 4" extension to continue over the toilet for more space. Glass shelves mounted above the toilet could also work.

Kelli Kaufer Designs Remove the door in the corner and create shelving. If you can remove the pedestal sink and put in a cabinet with sink, would give you a little countertop space and storage for underneath. The cabinets are pretty inexpensive, the plumber in labor shouldn't be that much....

olldbobbi Oh, Stonemar, please don't take offense to this, but that sink looks kinda like a urinal turned on it's side!!!

Carolyn Albert-Kincl Design I'd do what Bobbi suggests about removing the door and trim on the corner unit. Then I'd buy a "potty topper" cabinet to go over the toilet, similar to one shown below, but with solid doors, not glass. Home Depot and Lowes will have well priced ones. I'd prefer to keep the space under the sink uncluttered. You could place a toilet paper stack unit such as is shown below in the empty space by toilet.

Dar Eckert I agree, remove the door on the cabinet and make shelves.I suppose the bottom was for a hamper but it would be difficult to get the hamper in or out over the toilet
.
If you are going to do remodeling take out the shower and make it larger, the whole back wall with glass door and side wall. It won't help with storage space but will make the room seem larger.

Replace the sink with one that has storage. You have a ton of options for the vanity.
