What color should the front door be?
We'd like to replace our front door before it gets too cold out. What color do you think would look best with this yellow brick? The porch light, address numbers, and mailbox will all be black. (And we may or may not get a new screen door after tossing the one that's there.)

houssaon I like the white!

Prune the bushes quite a bit to open the entry. Very cute house.

Mary E Thank you! I think we'll be getting rid of those bushes completely.

Bond Girl Right now your roof, and the body of the house are all one color. The white does nothing to break it up. I'd like to see everything that is white now, go black. Black door, trim, light, numbers, mailbox. I'm not sure all of the bushes need to go, just the two that flank the walk, and entrance to the house. Window boxes (also in black) under the two short windows will help them carry that side, and balance the large window on the other side. The first thing I'd ditch is the astro-turf on the steps, and entrance to the house. I love this style house. Good luck, and congratulations on your new home!

Elise Go bold with bright blue or green. Red is a classic. I like Bond Girl's suggestion to go dark with your trim. It will give the architectural features more contrast to the brick!

meredithray Deep dark black--burgundy. It should look black from the road, but when you walk up on it it is burgundy. Paint your mailbox and numbers a bronze metal color. Congrats on your new home!

olldcan I think you answered your own question, BLACK.

inkwitch To be really bold, an intense turquoise would be stunning -- that sky certainly looks good behind it.

More conservative but intense and classy: royal blue. Nothing dark, but not electric blue either. Paint the glass storm door the same color or it will jsut look weird.

Change your mailbox and light fixture to something antique bronze. New house numbers but in only 1 location. A bigger light fixture will update the facade.

However, I do not care for all the white trim as it does nothing FOR the house. A light bluish gray (if you were to choose a blue door) would add style. Too intense color on the trim might give it a "choppy" appearance, or emphasize the small windows on the right. That porch divider has a typical mid-century style which could be emphasized with color. Don't forget to paint the gutters.
