Need help with bedroom carpet!
We are currently replacing all the tile/ carpet in our home with wood flooring. However, I want to carpet our bedrooms. What is the "in" carpet now? Currently I have a plush that shows everything! Can't wait for the wood floors. My husband is the one insisting on carpet in the bedrooms and I don't like any of the samples I see. I need help! We are empty nesters but we have a small dog. I want something that doesn't show tracks and dirt.

olldbobbi I totally agree with you! Those plush carpets were nice to look at ONLY after they were freshly vacuumed. To hide the most dirt and tracks I would go with a low pile neutral like a berber. I would also avoid anything with a pattern, like a check or chevron, because that will limit your linen choices.

hannah53 Exactly! And it drives me nuts. Thanks for your idea and suggestion about patterns. What do you think about the multi colored carpets - sort of really short shag, but soft. Are those out now? I just cannot decide!

Cancork Floor Inc. The ideal "carpet" replacement is cork. I know...hubby wants carpet, but cork flooring can be as warm as carpet with better sound deadening qualities. For the look of a homey feel, use a throw rug that can be changed up every few seasons - it's like bedding for your floor. Just a thought.

olldbobbi I think a dense, short shag would be just fine as long as it's not in avocado green or burnt orange!

olldcan Do hardwood in the bedrooms as well with nice throw rugs beside the bed for your husbands feet. Throw rugs can hit the wash, carpet is filthy. In terms of re-sale, check with a realtor but if i were looking today there would be absolutely no carpet in the home at all.

hannah53 Well, it's probably not shag, I just don't know how to describe it. I think I am leaning toward something like you pictured above. Thanks everyone for your suggestions!
