Would these items work together?
My friend has a new home and is buying new things for it. She's been in love with these curtains from Anthropolgie and now has selected this couch from Overstock. I feel the two styles don't mesh well together.
What do you guys think? Her living room is a long rectangle with a big picture window in the front and a fireplace on the opposite side. She has dark original hardwood floors and an antique armoire.

Manon Floreat Well, the fact that she chose Anthropologie curtains is clue that here style probably leans towards eclectic with a little bohemian thrown in for good measure. She seems to be going for a collected look with the weathered leather, antique armoire and the Prescilla styled curtains. It'll will be a fun look to put together. I'd just recommend that she uses some vibrant color to offset the brown/tan and to make sure the curtains go from floor to ceiling.

Here are a couple of neutral eclectic bohemian spaces that work quite well with some color:

bwenk ooo i don't know...at first glance i would say they don't go together at all. I think she would have to think very carefully about her accessories and then go w/ something like the 2nd pic that Manon added. still though I would be tempted to say use in different rooms or have a designer come in and add help

decoenthusiaste I think the idea could fly if the curtains were made of leather. Who's ready to tackle a sewing project?

momrnc I like the curtains and the sofa but maybe if the sofa had a more consistent leather color (not a tanned inconsistent coloring. Also would work if she doesn't tie the curtains back, like a bedroom, but leaves them open and hanging straight. (That's for a female's home, my husband would say no way and I would not push this style with a male in the house.)

olldbobbi Mmmmm. not to me. I had those curtains in the 80's when country was so popular. I do like the sofa, tho!

Aggie Purvinska No, I don't think they work together, the curtains may work with a slipcovered Sofa, like "Ektorp" from Ikea, or a very neutral fabric sofa..

S&K Interiors The drapes and sectional can work together as long as she comtinues to add more Bohemian and contemporary items in the mix.

Carolina Photo To Go LLC I guess we should think of it like eating pretzels and ice cream. If she loves it, it probably will work. Should be interesting. I do like both items.

victorianbungalowranch Going so different is always a challenge and will take some experimentation.

I wouldn't call the curtains country--too oversized--maybe rustic? Add some chunky rods, maybe even a tree branch or something, some other rustic accents, like a rustic coffee table or sidetable, perhaps some driftwood or large vase with twigs, a great tribal or textured rug, some large artwork, some rich wall color, I think it could work fine.

Stanton Designs-online design services I think they do work together. Styling your home is all about your taste and who is to say what you can and can't like...right! What I like about it is...the sofa is so masculine and the drapery is feminine. Gives the space a well balanced feel! And for some reason they just work together. Ruffle drapes are very big right now!

jeannie925 I love both! Can't wait to see what else is going into that room! But it gives me a headache.

Darzy If the theme is repeated in the room, I think it could work. Like a rustic side table with crystal vase on the top. Or, round leather toss pillows next to a square "rose petal" textured pillow. This could look great..or a hot mess!

Susan Mills Design Manon and Victorian Bungalow, I love what you both said and the pictures you provided, how often on here do we advise that if you love it, it can work. I like this womans sense of style, the fact that she does not choose a page number out of a catalogue that is showing one look. She is daring and a risk taker and playing it her way. I like that! She will probably be very happy in her home, which is what it's all about!

Elise Personally, I would enjoy the curtains in the bedroom, and the couch in the living room. I would throw a soft knitted throw and printed down pillows on the sofa to feminize it a little.
