olldcan Karen, Im still thinking the green/grey but in mid-dark close to your counter. Looks like your in the midst of an appliance change to stainless so I'd go ahead and change out the knobs to match. You might want to consider painting the cabinets in your island the dark green/grey colour too. Can the mullions in your window be removed. Love the chandelier in your idea book is that for the kitchen?

janishill Green is the perfect compliment to the oak cabinets. The cabinets already have yellow undertones which is why yellow paint it does not work.

The shade of green depends on how much natural light your room receives and on your likes. This color will work: http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/sycamoretree

or this one: http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/dillpickle

or this one: http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/olivemoss

but I think this is my favorite: http://www.glidden.com/search/results.do?q=soothing+green+tea
It is the shade that is used in the attached picture.

If it were my kitchen I would change the knobs to black and hang a natural fiber shade that coordinates with the cabinets. (see pictures)

Would love to see updated pictures as you go!
