Painting dark oak kitchen cabinets
...worried about future chipping and maintenance. What is the best paint (and process) to use to avoid them looking badly after a few years.

Jamie Herzlinger Get a good painter that is used to doing cabinets. You will need to sand them really well, and an oil base paint would be great, but depending where you are you have to check. You won't have problems if done right, I have had many kitchens refinished, dark to white

Deborah Butler, Brickwood Builders I agree that professional painters will do a better job than most homeowners. They need to be cleaned thoroughly in order to get all grease and/or dirt build up from just normal use. Then they should be sanded and primed. The paint should be sprayed on instead of brushed or rolled.
