Change paint color or curtains
azhome
November 9, 2012 in Design Dilemma
Here are existing colors in the room. light walnut wood floors, taupe shades of travertine, tan color walls and gold silk curtains. I do not feel that the current wall color and curtains are a good match.
Getting ready to put house on market and feel it would be better to paint room in a creamy white/beige or white with a hint of gray to brighten room instead of replacing curtains. I would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks

Paint. Try the soft grey that is in the chandy and the travertine. Then if you don't like the drapes with it you can do them afterwards.

Since you're selling the house, don't put $$ where it doesn't really do much for you. Paint is cheap, draperies not so much. Open the curtains, let the sun shine in. People will want light and airy, open. For paint, maybe a faux finish (glaze) on the existing paint? Something that picks up the flooring and ties in the gold of the drapes.

Agreed paint is generally the most economical way to go. However are you taking the draperies or leaving them? If you are taking them I think it actually could be less money and work to put up a simple rod and panels from the home improvement store, versus replacing the pinch pleats you have. Also would be a lot less work than painting a whole room.
