Matching grey hardwood floors?? Paint ?? Tiles?
I'm currently building a new home and I have grey hardwood being installed . Just wondering if anyone has some ideas on paint colours , tiles , and possible kitchen cabinet colour? It would be a huge help!

Carolina Photo To Go LLC If you are sure you want the grey hardwoods, I would first take a sample of it to more than one granite store. Granite can be a real wow factor in a kitchen. They have some spectacular ones. I would consider purchasing one that has some grey veining in it. Get estimates at more than one place. They can vary soo much. If you dont like what is at one shop go to another. Some shops may even be able to send you to a large distributor so you will have hundreds of selections. You want to love what you choose b/c it is a big expense. Then I would pick the backsplash after. After those items are selected then select your paint color.

nevadan Gray hardwoods are beautiful. Use dark wood cabinetry and glossy black tile.

olldcan Here's what I have chose so far.

pic 2. Cabinets in Grey Island Cream or possibly Black.
pic 3. Granite for Island (Beaches)
pic 4.Quartz (Grey Expo) for all other solid surfaces.

ccwatters That depends on if you are trying to achieve a very contemporary feel, a basic contemporary feel, transitional, a cottage/rustic feel, or a combination.

See below for some inspiration.

olldcan Aims Tile (Metallica Series in bronze) For the fireplace and floor tiles.
Not totally decided on paint but BM Revere Pewter seems to work good with my selection so far. Haven't decided on backsplash but most likely back painted glass.

nevadan Doesn't sound good. You might need to get some professional advice.

ruthmand Olldcan, that's a lot of gray! Are you giving advice or designing your own place?

jonnyc Thanks all. I'm designing my own place .

Natalie Hi---I would actually go with two shades of taupe (cool tone) for the cabinets and island---(island being a different shade of taupe). Love the flooring and stone---for the counters. Check the paint chip Sherwin Williams-----codes SW 6036 thru SW 6041 those hues should work well with what you have. Good Luck!

jonnyc Final decision on tile , hardwood , and counter top. What do you think?

olldcan The grey hardwood and this tile look much nicer than your previous choice. Not sure if it's because of the colour or because this tile has a very soft (not busy) pattern. These 2 floor choice look great together nonetheless. The granite sample looks a bit green/black but that could just be my monitor. What colour have you decided on for the cabinetry?

jonnyc Yea I thought I could see green in the granite lol , the counter top isn't 100% yet I'm still looking . I'm thinking of going with a really dark stain on the cabinets and also a darker color counter top.

yvonnecmartin You should be careful of using both dark stain on the cabinets and on the counter-top. It might just be too dark to be pleasant to cook in. If you do choose these colors, then be sure to have plenty of under-cabinet lighting.

Natalie Love the floor---I think the cabinets stained dark like the flooring you attached a pic of --- pic 1. Preverco Wave in (Nembrala)
paired with either the granite or quartz in the same post and you're all set with your colors and materials. It's going to look Fantastic! Good Luck! :)
