Problematic wallpaper!
November 25, 2012 in Design Dilemma
Been incorporating whites, golds and silver, as well as a pumpkin color, but what color bedding would look good?

All those colors will be lovely together, but I'd still recommend taking down the dated wallpaper and painting the wall instead.

Green. It would be a great compliment and it will tie everything in together and pull the whole room together.

Brown and cream.

I would vote for cream or an ivory, which will make the bed stand out. You don't need more earthy colors in the bedding.

Brown will be strong enough to draw your attention from the wall. Say a brown comforter and cream sheets and pillows and green and orange accents.

Maybe something simple and light with some pillows or shams to pick up the color/pattern from the wallpaper? Ivory or light pewter or even all white duvet covers for that high-end hotel look.

I saw a hotel in England that had old-fashioned wallpapered walls with the wihite duvets and pillows, and simple bright colorful accent pillows and it looked great. I should have saved some pictures, but it was something like this--very clean and bold bedding to contrast with the softer and old-fashioned wallpaper..

Thank you all! Very helpful advice. I love the idea of white with some color accents.

I also can see brown, something on the bed. The wallpaper reminds me of the old Strahn papers made in Boston and graced everyone's walls. :>)
