Enclosed kitchen
We are currently renovating a 1920s "mizner-esque" style house with a closed kitchen. Finances do not permit a kitchen design change and we are trying to stay true to the house's original design. How does one live in a house with an enclosed kitchen? Our current kitchen, though small, is an open design...Will I regret this change considering I spend about 90 percent of my waking hours in the kitchen? Any advice or comments appreciated. I will be attaching pics soon.

I have had both types of kitchens and I like an enclosed kitchen as well as or better than an open concept kitchen. I spend a lot of time in kitchen, too. A few good points to enclosed kitchens: your mess is contained in the small kitchen and the room & cooking becomes a peaceful Zen meditative experience.
I would not modernize a period house, too much. What we think is modern and up-to-date today (open kitchen concept for instance) may be considered dated tomorrow.
