house2514 scroll down there are two more pics that show little picket fence openings-----I made a mistake with red leather selection of couch and chair---too much red for me now!

tennisanyone I don't see anything else to scroll down to.

olldcan Actually I like the red couch and chair, I think the rug and the yellow paint colour are the problems here. I would remove all vegetation from the fireplace, replace the gold accessories and trim with silver/pewter colour and beef up the mantel so it appears lower, seems like it's way too high.

collettec I would paint all the walls the beige color you have in the fireplace. I would remove the picket fence fencing pieces between the posts and wall and patch and paint.

olldcan " little picked fence openings"....LOL thats clever, now that I found that pic that describes them exactly. So, what's up with those things. Looks like it's removed on the left opening, can you remove the white trim on the floor and just take them all down?

house2514 I think I can just knock them out---use to be painted white--so it really looked like a picket fence then. Actually the whole room is painted same color- Valspar Lynhurst gothic tan- its darker than shows in photo. I do agree brass needs to go and mantle redo. Thanks for the tips.

collettec Actually I think another paint color to consider might be a gray or a blue gray if you can find one that works with your rug colors.
