Is metal a negative element in terms of Feng Shui

I was reading a book by a Sufi and the author very strongly condemned using any kind of metal for anything that involves daily usage because it has a negative energy since they all come from 'underground.' It actually makes sense if you are a believer of feng shui and a positive chi flow.

What are everyone's thoughts?
