vjs12 To make the kitchen have a more modern feel, I would put glass tiles for the backsplash. The honey oak cabinets and the floor look more traditional so tumbled stone would be nice for the backsplash. I have the same cabinets but a tiled floor. I like the green and would like to paint my walls that color so can you tell me the paint you used please?

I have one question - if you have a modern style - then why did you choose a yellow granite?
and raised profile cabinet. Nothing in your room says modern.
You now need to pick a butter cream tile to go with your countertops - and your countertops look like they have what's called a return (a portion of the countertop going up onto the wall) Why didn't you continue with that right up to the underside of the upper cabinets?

Would have been a much sleeker more modern look.

I've attached some examples of various types of mosaics, but in the end you will have to pick up samples, take them home make sure they compliment both your countertop and your cabinetry.

Below are some examples of tile from our site that I think would look nice in your kitchen. I agree that while you may want to keep your decor clean and simple, it's not exactly what most would consider modern, and you should shy away from anything too contemporary. Good luck!
