what type and SIZE rocks did you use

do you find that people trip on the pebbles?
Are these pebbles 1-2" or smaller?

my problem is that the stores say that I can have rocks that are either 1/2-1" OR 1-2"..Given a design similar to what you used, which would you opt for? I know smaller are easier to walk on but larger look for dramatic. Which way would you go?
