Thanks, Carolyn! That rug is fun. I actually found it on overstock one day and a friend of mine bought one after seeing it as well. Love all the color.

Mine definitely needs a skirt! I have one I've used for about 20 years, but didn't put it on. I think I'm ready to find a new one. :D

I added purple to all my silver items, thought I should change it up a bit this year. Funny thing about the purple, it doesn't show well in darker rooms on dark trees or against the oak mantel it only pops when all the lights are on.

Thanks gals, see I told you, purple doesn't show up well. You'd think with 300 ornaments on the tree you could spot at least one, darn led's. Spent a whopping 4 bucks at the local Dollar Store to resurrect my silver wreath. *L* just noticed this pic was taken and my tree skirt wasn't on yet, whoops :)

Thanks for the compliment...yes, I glued the feathers on... this helped creating even more texture in both the champagne bowls in my foyer. You might enjoy these as well - that is the flower arrangements & 'stuff' for coffee tables!

Hendrick, the decorations on your tree are just BEAUTIFUL and I love the green with green and more green arrangement. If you can't tell, I love green :)

michigammemom. There's no fast answer for you so grab a chair :)
The wreath started as a brown grapevine wreath several years ago, I think I paid .50 cents at a garage sale back when I had geese with light blue ribbons around there necks for wall paper in the kitchen.... OH YA about 25 years ago.... anyway, It had seen it's better day and I was gonna chuck it. Christmas came around and I was flat broke, couldn't afford a thing but came across a partial can of silver spray paint....the wheels started turning..... sprayed it and proceeded with red velvet ribbon from a gift that I received the year prior, picked a few pine cones from in the yard to glue on and Wha La, i was done. It has several times changed in appearance, about 6 years ago it needed to be sprayed again, but I'm cheap, (i think they call it frugal now) no spray paint, so I wiped glue all over it and pressed it into the rest of the chunky silver and gold glitter from my parents anniversary party. This wreath has had a million lives, the kids laugh at me every year and say " Mom just chuck it out" I simply can't. It reminds me of where I was, where I've been. Yes, I can more than afford to have a new one but it's not about the destination and all about the journey, One day I hope my kids will get that and if it looks like there's no hope for them maybe i'll cut it into three and give it to them as a gift.LOL.
Merry Christmas All :)

I added some turquoise and more lime to my silvery theme. I don't have a mantle, so I decorate a dry bar area in my dinning room.

In a new home and still trying to find just the right things for holiday decorations..this yr I added a 2nd tree just for the kids in my family room and my larger tree is in my foyer with the glass decorations. Just cannot find the right things for outside because of the expense of the things I really like. I found wreaths and decorated them myself to save money.

For years I've had our tree on a remote dimmer (Radio Shack) and I love dimming it down in the evening as my husband and I have a glass of wine sitting on the fireplace hearth. Does anyone else use a dimmer on their tree?

I don't know if i can do the before and after... but i will try... my tree is definitely not a designers tree... but i love it.. i always start with a fresh cut tree and my ornaments are all sentimental from my mother n law to my husband's ornaments he made when he was a kid... my kid's homemade ornaments, my homemade ornaments... ornaments from friends, my ornaments span decades... i even have have a wicked witch of the west ornament on my tree... (my daughter's ornament when she was 16 she thought that of me quite often) but i love it so many memories... i call it my memory tree!

Originally, not planning on putting up & decorating a real tree. Today, feeling like not quite the same without...walked into the woods and cut this tiny tree for this tiny house. One of the many reasons I love living in Maine ; )

How utterly charming to cut your own little tree in the wilds of Maine! We loved spending 8 days in Camden in late Sept...our first trip there, but we hope not our last. We're thinking we'll never find a town we prefer to Camden. Any ideas on that? It's hard to beat perfection.

@ carolyn albert..good idea on the dimmer remote for tree lights. We have a remote control for on/off only, which I love but hadn't thought about a dimmer. We usually just have all lights low when the tree lights are on. I'm going to check out Radio Shack tomorrow. Yes..I still have shopping to do!

Decorating this grand and stylish home for the Holidays each year has become part of my Christmas tradition. The Christmas tree, in particular, is always so special. When we started, 10 years ago, the tree had a grand, department store look, with huge, gold dipped pine cones, bows of ribbon and sparkly, red garland. As the years have passed, the addition of paper angels and stars, class pictures attached to paper trees, and the like, have adorned the tree and given it an intimate family feel. The pride and joy seen in the eyes of the child artisans as I climb the ladder and hang their wares in places of importance, really warms my heart.
