Mantel style for contemporary room
What kind of mantel design would look nice for a contemporary styled room? Ceiling height is 8 feet with plenty of light in the room.
Thanks!

decoenthusiaste With so much of the hearth and surround being dark, what about something in a different color of the same stone? Can't see what it actually is, but assume stone. Just covering the wall with copper could be a great touch! Copper would work with this color and add some bling. Your windows don't give the impression that the home is actually contemporary though.

doraa Thanks for the input. We're still in the remodel process, and the focus is finishing the fireplace so Santa can visit....We are converting to a gas fireplace with stones similar to the ones in the lower right of the photo. Great idea about the copper!

judyg That fireplace is a statement :>) Consider painting the surrounding wall a brown in the stone and a simple, contemporary white wood surround. Above, a stunning mirror.

camurphy47 Consider using a dark antique pine beam w black staining or hit it w a torch add old bolts to the face to give the illusion that it is what rants it to the wall heat the bolts first and drop in old motor old to give an old world look to the metal it will add age and character
