What Color? Yellow or Red?
laurahahe
December 16, 2012 in Design Dilemma
I am planning on painting this dresser and using it as a sideboard in my dining room. I am going to paint the walls blue-gray. Should I paint the dresser yellow or red? I have accents in both colors that I can use.

I vote yellow. If you want bolder... you could paint the hardware the red. : )

I would go with the yellow too especially if your wall color has the grey undertone. You can use red accents in accessories on top or in your art work!

Yellow like Darzey stated, but with silver knobs like in the pic she posted, red may be too much depending on your style :)

Love the idea of painting bright.

I vote for yellow with red drawers.... :=) that is if your dresser is the star of the room. Otherwise, I think yellow would be inspiring enough by itself. If you do paint it, make sure you give it plenty of drying time before using it again. Especially for the top of the dresser.

I love the bold yellow in the example image above, but would definately use silver hardware. If you choose to use red though, a fire engine red with brass hardware would look amazing.

Take a look at how a fellow houzzer painted a French Provincial bureau. Beautiful! http://www.houzz.com/discussions/261924/French-provincial-bureau

We agree, pale yellow would look great with gray walls.
