Problem with my bedroom
I was thinking of painting the wall and the ceiling the same color... is it a good idea ?

Carolyn Albert-Kincl Design It's absolutely a grand idea and will make you wonder why it wasn't done that way before. Your ceiling is just crying out to be married to the walls with color! Do it! I almost always paint the ceiling the same color as the walls, and in a situation such as yours where the ceiling comes down so low, it's doubly important!

Nathalie Brisson Thanks Carolyn, It's a house I just bought and I really didn't know what to do with this room..... I will be asking other questions about all the rooms of the house, everything has to be redone.

Carolyn Albert-Kincl Design You are very welcome. I will await your future questions, avec plaisir, Nathalie! Bonne chance avec votre nouvelle maison.

C Wright Design Hi Nathalie, There is a lot of visual information in this photograph with the slope of the ceiling, windows and detailed door. I would consider painting the whole room, including trim and doors, in the same color. The difference in sheen (i.e. satin or semi-gloss on the trim and doors, flat on the walls) will give it a finished look and the consistent color will calm everything down. Then you can move on to decide what to put in this beautiful new space! Good luck!

Nathalie Brisson At the moment, the trims are all different... the doors and trim on the opposite wall (not on the picture) are all white... there is also a big wooden beam at the ceilling. The color of my furniture will be dark cognac and I was thinking of a light color on the walls.... I like your idea... thanks

Carolyn Albert-Kincl Design I would leave the ceiling beams the dark color that they are but paint the doors and trim white. Your furniture color should be fine with your walls, tho you could certainly change color if you want. If you want to change the color, in what direction would you want to go?

C Wright Design Thanks, Nathalie. I think a light color would look good in that space, especially with the dark cognac furniture. With all the different trims, doors, etc. the one color idea sounds even more critical. It's going to be beautiful and such a big change!
