Color for my kitchen?
I need help with picking a wall color. My cabinets are honey oak and the floors have a cherry finish. I painted a small section of my wall with agave not sure if it works. Any suggestions?

Carolina Photo To Go LLC I love it!

Cynthia Taylor-Luce I agree. The green paint really complements the red tones of the floor nicely.

janishill You picked the perfect color!

ms_peaches That is the same dilema that I had. i went with a similar shade of green, and was lost as to what to do with the floor....Thanx for that tip, and You're doing great!!

Stacey Gibson Definitely the right color! Bring in pops of red or yellow or bright blue or ??Clear candy colors will make this kitchen even more fun! or tone it way down with stainless or matte black. Even Shiny chrome will work here. Be sure to post after photos. - Green * Red * Yellow - done!

G3 Studios Decorative Painting I agree. That color seems to offer a great but subtle contrast to the red tones throughout the woodwork. Once all of the original color is covered you will love it. When people start painting they get nervous that it's not quite right. It's not the new color against floor and cabinets that's throwing you off. It's the new color fighting the old color that's messing with you. Finish it and post it. I bet it's awesome!

dcps I too love that green hue.

pgamble I buy and fix up a lot of homes for resale. My "signature" is that I paint the crown moulding and kick boards on the cabinets a different color, often black. But, that varies with the color of the cabinets and other factors. I am now building a house with custom cabinets. The crown moulding is painted the color of the cabinets (a light tan) with streaking of the same stain I used for the beams and window stools. So dramatic with minimal cost and effort.

vickihoneycutt Awesome!! Love that green with the wood tones!

lolajfred Pgamble, do you have any photos of your signature style that you can share? I am interested in seeing what this looks like. I'm starting a major home redesign in the spring and trying to make choices for that effort. Thanks!

whi7 I would consider a subway tile backsplash in caramel tones.

stlouisgaltoo I love the green too. Soothing and not trying to be the focal point? I have a similar look in my kitchen. Honey maple, white appliances and a woodgrain vinyl floor in a light tone. But my walls are a brickish color. I am tired of my color. I need to borrow yours!

stlouisgaltoo My backsplash.

Tim Saxton I like the Subway tile backslash idea, but I would make it in bright primaries, perhaps in the small rectangular glass tiles, random colors.

origlmarie I think the green color you chose is great. Works with your cabinet and floor color.

kitchenbathdesigner knobs and handles are the "jewelry" of the kitchen. i am a kitchen designer and i always tell customers to add decorative hardware. you can do colored glass, rustic cast iron, matte black for some contrast, do long handles on the doors and knobs on the drawers, etc ... the list goes on. that will complement the green wall and red floor. BTW, red and green are complementary colors which is why they look so great together. i agree with everyone... nice color- keep going! then add some personal touches like the hardware!

Pam Ozment Go for it. Great choice! Turquoise and/or orange would be fun accents...

michelehellyer When I had kitchen cabinetry that color, I painted walls chocolate brown, added black galaxy granite counters (havs a fleck of brown), removed raised panels in upper cabinets - replacing with glass, and finally updated all of the hardware. It was quite nice.

Heather Black paint on the walls would also look good, giving it a modern touch, and add sliver appliances.

mgmentang I like everything in this kitchen, from the cabinet and the work top down to floor, perfect combination i love it.

mgmentang If you want add another color, i think its neccessary, but in my opinion (THE WALL) between the hanging cabinet and the work top put a glass and bulb light to make more attractive.

nikoyam I agree, the green looks wonderful. Eventually overtime, you may also consider adding tile backsplash of some sort.

ghomuth The green is good. Green is usually the best choice with oak cabinets

noankwaters And another vote for your green and, if possible, a tiled backsplash. I love the pic stlouisgaltoo posted and think it would compliment the green walls and cabinets! Loving that floor!

kit4kent I love the shade of green chosen as it warms up white appliances and honey stained woods without making the room too warm.

alwaysdesigning Your Agave color seems to work. Since your cabinets, floor and countertops are all so different, it unifies. If you can find some kind of interesting backsplash with some interest and accent to your countertops and cabinets it can also help round out the space. I just think the backsplash needs to "marry" those two so it doesn't feel too broken up between the uppers and countertop. Good luck

gracie60 Mine is a question. Soffits over kitchen cabinets are not the in thing now. Any suggetions on what to do with them. Can't afford to have them taken out. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Jo

Aj Lee yes, I like the green color! I agree with alwaysdesigning about the backsplash, I also think it will help and won't be overpowered with the green.

Denise Graff LOVE the green...we just redid our kitchen in a similar color and it makes the cabinets pop!
stlouisgaltoo Gracie66 better make sure that those soffits are not hiding duct work or beams. You may not be able to take them out! Depends on how your house is constructed. Good grief, my house is "outdated" due to soffits!?? Who knew?!

horzz Love the green! I vote for hardware on the cabinets. I love my oil rubbed bronze pulls, and we have similar kitchens.

megaelarsen Just right. Well done.

kkuu go for some green or turquoise tone to give it bright look...if don't want the bright look then go for some beige texture slightly darker than the one you have on cabinets...,
6 months ago ·
adson I also like the green , but I think that the color in the counter top and backsplash are not complimenting the cabinets ..black or white , you have used both , and it the color will stand out more...just a thought

studio 5542 Love the tone of the green you picked. Some modern brushed stainless hardware would take the kitchen to the next level and a backsplash that had some sea glass in it would be beautiful. It also seems like you would be able to tie all of this together with a larger area carpet on the floor that brings the floor, cabinets, green and some black to anchor it together. Love to see it when you're done
