Laundry Counter Help!
This is our laundry room / mud room / door to garage.

I am finishing it of with some cabinets and a counter top. Cabinets are already in place, unfortunately the washer and dryer are several inches taller than the low cabinet. The W/D also sticks out beyond the cabinets by several inches and can't be pushed back due to venting.

I have 2 questions:

1) I am planning on building up the cabinet from the top to make it even with the W/D then finishing it with a toe kick to match the cabinetry. Does anyone have a better idea?

2) What should I do for the counter top? I am stuck on laminate (no granite, quartz etc) but what should I do for color, style, shape etc?

EB Interiors your idea to build it up sounds good. i would go with a navy or choc brown color countertop.

Interiors International, Inc. The new laminate counter tops are so good. I would use a granite look that you like. Most people will not notice that it isn't real. My sister in law did it and even I was fooled for a minute. It looks great!

ksamnic EB's suggestion of navy would look nice imo; works well with the appliance and wall colors.

Is there room to replace the cabinet with ones that are the same depth as the appliances? This way the washer/dryer will not stick out, and your counter top could be deeper ... room for big laundry baskets etc.. (also, minimizing any gaps will mean you have fewer socks to fish out from between them)
