Narrow Living Room - What Kind of Couch/layout?
Hi All!

We just purchased this house and this picture is from the listing. I'm trying to figure out what type/style of couch/chairs/seating we should purchase and/or should we keep this layout. Here are some details:

1. Living room is narrow, I don't want to block the entering and exiting from the living room with a huge couch.

2. From the picture you can't see it but, the laundry room/closet is right next to the t.v. so we won't be able to put any chairs/couch there.

3. We will most likely put the t.v. above the fireplace (or should we just leave it how it is in the picture)

Any suggestions are appreciated! Thank you and Merry Christmas!

Michelle Mink If you don't want to block the entrance to the room with a couch, it would probably not be the best to mount the TV above the fireplace because looking straight forward is the most comfortable way to watch television and you said you don't want to put a couch there.

This is a challenging room to be sure. Fireplace on one wall, large windows on another and a specific traffic flow through the room.

1. Do you dislike the way the furniture is arranged now?

2. Is this the only/optimal room for tv viewing? Must the tv go here?

decoenthusiaste Here are some pictures to help you envision a plan. Just visually see the long rug as your long room, ignoring the furnishings on the sides. Consider back to back sofas plus swivel armchairs chairs. The chairs at the TV end of the room would sit together in front of the windows, facing the TV. The wall between the two windows would be the spot where the two sofas back up to each other. Use a sofa table between them if you have room. This is totally flexible, so if you tire of it you can put the sofas in an "L" or facing each other.

Channy Bowman Thank you both for the suggestions!

Michelle, I don't mind the arrangement now, I guess I still need to accept that the laundry closet is in the living room. Also, I forgot to mention, the fireplace isn't there anymore if that makes a difference. Most likely, we'll keep the same layout because it does work!

Interiors International, Inc. I personally love sectionals but i would want mine to be up against the wall. That way I could see out the windows and still watch TV.
