Thomas Buckborough & Associates The slate in this project was sourced from "rmg stone products" in Vermont and is called "woodland jade" slate. I don't believe one can specify different shades.
anneislan Thanks! How does slate compare to granite in terms of care, maintenance? I know it is really sturdy, and I love the look, just wondering whether I'll have to spend an inordinate amount of time dealing with scratches, etc. Appreciate any advice you have.
Thomas Buckborough & Associates This is how it is described on the RMG site and I find these qualities are true:
"highly scratch resistant, our superior slate will not delaminate, fade or stain is impervious to water and is naturally antibacterial. Slate is easily maintained as it does not require sealing and can be kept clean with any surface cleaner or grease cutter." I think this is a very low maintenance product; its upkeep and maintenance should not be a concern for you in choosing it.
