Long living room dilemma
My living room is very long and it seems awkward, I'm not sure how to set it up... I'm not fond of the arrangement of the furniture now..any ideas?

Carolyn Albert-Kincl Design Putting furniture along the long walls of a narrow room will just make the room look narrower. I would place the TV where the Christmas tree is now and then turn the sofa sideways in the room to face the TV. Try the TV on the low table that is currently to the right of the Christmas tree. That will allow you to use the console, on which the TV currently rests, as a sofa table behind the sofa.

You probably will not be able to use your big square end table, but with the sofa table behind the sofa, you will not need the big end table. Put a lamp on the sofa table. If you don't have a lamp, buy one.

Turn the rug sideways in front of the sofa, tucked under the sofa by a few inches. Place a coffee table in front of the sofa.

kaylafrost The sofa reclines so we can't put the table behind it :/ great ideas though thank you

kaylafrost The low table by the Christmas tree is the coffee table

Dar Eckert What is on the wall opposite the Christmas tree? You really need to get some color in there. I vote for a large graphic print rug & Light blue curtains.

Interiors International, Inc. That sofa against the wall is not helping your problem. Though I can understand why it's there considering your TV location. A separate small sitting area where your tree is now will break up the length and make it a bit more cozy.

Carolyn Albert-Kincl Design Since you can't use a sofa table, I recommend a floor lamp and no end table. The TV would go on the sofa table placed where the tree is.

kaylafrost Dar it's a window opposite to the tree the curtains are closed. We just moved in my husband is in the Air Force so we are in military housing. We are also newly married so slowly accumulating things for the house :) we are wanting to add different shades of green.

Dar Eckert Greens would work too. I think light spring greens with the brown is a great color combination.

decoenthusiaste Can you paint your place? You might like SW6472 Composed as a blue/green that would look pretty as an accent with your palette. Try shades based on this for accessories, pillows, throws.

decoenthusiaste Well, if you like the shades above, you can easily find accessories that color.
