Wall colors, fire place and book shelves
I need ideas about paint for walls. I wondered if I should paint the walls a color and the fireplace another color. I also wondered about painting the wall behind the bookshelves. The room is currently yellow and I am looking maybe at gray/brown neutral for main walls. Suggestions?

mbtayloe It would be cool to paint the walls a nice grey (including the walls on the backs of the built-ins and keep all else white. Then the built-ins would kind of pop. And you could do great color in your fabrics.

Amy Poole I like the idea of gray. I have two, identical neutral couches with brown pillows. Do I need a gray with more brown or blue? I looked at Benjamin Moore gray paint colors and there are lots!! I don't want the couches to look green.

mbtayloe Search the house ideabook area under color and search for 'grey' and there are tons of ideas. I would try maybe a cooler grey (has more blue undertones). You've got a great window too which is nice. Are the built ins on both sides?

mbtayloe Ad you can always switch out the decorative pillows to change up your color scheme. Brown couches are nice for just being a back drop!
