smldesigns I think blue and white together present a fresh look. I think with the dark woodwork, I would use Farrow and Ball Borrowed Light. If you can't afford their paint, go to a paint store where they mix paint and they can look up the formula and make the same color.

Ruby Alabar I think Aquamarine or tiffany box blue and white will brighten this room up.

AMN I'd go with something in the blue family. Something cool. Instead of trying to beat the what-appears-to-be fluorescent lighting, join it.
