Need help on an exterior paint color for the siding and trim...
Our house has never been painted, except for a factory applied gray on the siding. The trim is primed only, and is peeling at this point.
I'm usually decisive about colors, tending toward shades in wheat, putty, and gray. This time I'm completely stuck! The problem with the gray on the siding is that it seems so drab... We live in New England, and I'm ok with traditional colors except white and brown. The two colors on the back of the house are swatches of desperation... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Dytecture Personally I like the grey siding as it gives a timeless feel. One option for paint color is a more traditional pale yellow.

Heather Stevens I also like the grey, but there is entirely too much white trim, get rid of some and maybe paint the trim around the sliders the red for fun.

feeny I like the gray with the white trim. But maybe choose a gray that is less neutral--either go blue-gray or green-gray or darker charcoal, or lighter if you prefer light gray tones. But I'd keep the trim a consistent white. Some examples:

feeny Alternately, you could move over into the taupe family:

Carolina Photo To Go LLC I would drive through other neighborhoods and see what strike you as "wow" I really like that. Then you will know what a different color combo would look like on another house. That is what I did when I changed the color of the outside of my house.

claudiann Use your sample of cream as the trim color and the brown sample for deck and rails, doors, and outside furniture.

mamckeagney Thanks everyone, I appreciate your comments and suggestions. We've been thinking about yellow, and I quite like that Walnut Street house that dytecture found. Will keep the gray in mind as well... thank you!
