Need your opinion on what to do!

First of all, thank you for taking the time to read this! Okay, so i want to build a new house and i have a 500m by 500m area to build it. I was surfing the web when i came across this photo(it is attached) of a house I really liked the design of. Would my area be enough for a design like this to be pulled off? Do not worry about the garden in front of it, that is not a part of the 500 by 500 area design for building. I already have a large area of grass in which i can design the path like the one in the picture. Thanks again, your help will benefit me greatly.

Absolutely! You may have to compromise a bit on the size of the front entrance and scale it down, but definitely doable! If you find the right architect your result will be amazing as long as you are realistic. It baffles me personally how some of these guys build 6000 sq ft homes on tiny 1/8 to 1/4 acre lots in the Dallas area, but somehow they pull it off. What part of the country are you in?

You definitely have enough space! Continue to find inspiration photos and take them to an architect who specializes in residential design. They will be able to help you create a design that is scaled and designed properly for your site and meets meets your aesthetic (and practical) needs!

Personally, I do not like big houses on small lots - yuk.

Norma Sassone,

Correct me if I am wrong, but 500 m x 500 m is 2,689,600 sq ft.

1 acre is 43,560 sq ft.

500 m x 500 m is hardly a small lot!

True - wasn't thinking through my math. If it's 500m x 500m then doesn't that figure into over 60 acres? Is that right? It's raining today so maybe I'm not thinking clearly...

Deuxieme 'Eclat,

Exactly!

As an American, I am not accustomed to thinking metric.

Even if that was 500 ft x 500 ft, it'd be over 5.7 acres, big enough for just about any mansion and estate, with room for privacy. I recently did some small extra design work for a pool and landscape contractor on a 10 million dollar mansion here in Illinois laid out on 3.15 acres (approx 320 x 430 ft). Looks like an amazing project. Good luck linasal2000.

A little more info. My project had an outdoor pool. From your Ideabook it looks like you'll have an indoor pool. On my project, if you took the footprint of the house, pool, pool house, side load garage, and carport it was basically 175' x 175' or 53.4 sq meters. Maybe the decimal point was moved. Hope this helps.
