Any model railroaders out there?? sons model railroad layout
i decided to give the majority of my bonus from work($10,000) to my son and me for his birthday and a project me and him have been working on. we have a spare room in our basement. his room in on the other side of one of the walls. he wants to have his layout connected to his room. should i take down the whole wall or just have a tunnel running through the wall? this would take away vision of the otherside of the layout so we would be walking back and forth between rooms but a nice backdrop in painted on the wall would be nice. any help would be apreciated greatly. thanks

mmilos Love model railroads. Haven't gotten back into it since I bought my house, though.
I would leave the wall up and just have the train tunnel through it. You could set up different scenes on either side as well.

elklaker Agreed. My dad had a similar setup in our basement. The track was hinged by the door to the finished area so that it ran the whole perimeter. The tunnel went from the finished part to his workshop. It was very well done and absolutely magical for my sister and me. He's been gone almost ten years but those memories of him and the trains will be with us forever. Great project. Enjoy!
