Need Kitchen Decor Help
Looking for comments, ideas, any help at all with this kitchen.
Should I put some kind of fabric curtain/valance on the back slider door?
Should I paint the stain portion of the slider door same as the white molding? Or another color?
Ideas for a new hanging fixture.
Should I change wall paint color with right now is a BM Grey?
Suggestions on wall art?
I would appreciate any suggestions.
Also, here are some pics of our family room directly off the kitchen.

TanCalGal There is a large space between top of slider and ceiling. I think I'd add a wrought iron rod and white curtain panels. Remove plates.

U could paint the stain portion of door, but what about the other doors & stained trim in your house? If the other doors R stained, leave this door stained (or paint white like molding all stained doors + stained window trim + stained baseboards etc). I think painting white will look brighter but leads to increased maintenance down the road.

Light fixture is fine.

I like the paint but I think room might look better with white crown molding.

olldbobbi If you don't NEED a curtain on the slider, why not just put a cornice up instead?

StagedWorks I recommend painting the trim white, the same as the rest of the trim. Then buy an inexpensive rod, make sure it is wider that the door. Thick, round, with pretty finials. Then buy two 84x40 or 84x50 panels, ones that if you want to easily pull closed you can. Just frames the door, but doesn't block the light. Then for wall art. Keep an eye out for wall baskets. They are flat for hanging on the wall. Hang 2 or 3 different sized ones. You can go to DaliDecal.com and pick out a sign that has meaning to your family, or write your own. I like the big drum shade chandliers, they even sell just the drum to go over your existing fixture.I can find some pics to send you if you have questions. Good Luck. Brenda

Maria Billingsley of J Hettinger Interiors Crown for sure but make it at least 8" down the wall. Then add white wainscot paneling on the bottom. Add an area rug. Try a mirror in the middle and two art pieces on the side. For our window treatment do this one. The cascades give it more volume.
