Remove, add, change, paint, or repurpose?
Are my sofas too dark and should I add window treatments or paint (and what color)? Unsure what to do in my morning room off the kitchen. Suggestions welcomed!

A Kitchen That Works LLC If you like the couches, perhaps you could lighten things up by choosing a lighter wood tone for the coffee table and tv console. Keep the ceiling the same color as the adjoining rooms and paint the walls if you are not planning on window treatments. That being said, I would recommend window treatments before wall paint.

A Kitchen That Works LLC Floor or table lamps would also add texture, color and light.

Judith Taylor Designs Window treatments would dress up the space and soften the angles. You have a lovely room already. What troubles you about it? I think the sofas are fine but it isn't a great result to have them pushed back against the wall. Since television seems to be the main activity why not place one of them facing the tv wall and bring the other at right angles to it with an end table in between. Other than that I would suggest moving the artwork (the two horizontal pieces over the sofas) down to a more pleasing height. Right now they are too high to relate to the furniture in the room and could come at least half their width lower. Also remove the bits over the tv they are a distraction there. In all, it is a great space with lots of light.

ebonydiva I don't like the sofas. I'd like to change them to something lighter or add a 2 chairs in the place of in of the sofas. Would valances in beige be okay? A drapery consultant told me they would shorten the window. I think a floor lamp would be a good idea. I'd like to add 2 end tables but I'm scared they would crowd the room.

GARY FINLEY, ASID working with what you have try facing on of the sofa to the fireplace, something on the windows would soften the space, you do have solids everyyyyy where try some patterns as a break to the leather. even a lap robe of plaid would do wonders
