shannel I really want to keep the feng shui feel through my home.

caligirlsmom Being a booklover, I would put in a bookshelf and maybe a small chair. I think I would use a low - 4'-bookshelf that would "ground" the area, rather than a tall unit that would carry the eye up any more than it already does due to the steps. Then you could add a small lamp or candles on the top shelf of the bookcase and pictureson the wall. I am not familiar with Feng Shui so I don't know if this contradicts the philosophy or not.

olldroo It doesn't appear you have a power point for a lamp, which restricts ideas a bit. I love dabbling in feng shui but I don't know all the rules. Do you like something like this (ignoring the lamp of course)

judyg Love bobbi's picture of the bookshelves. It doesn't look like you have a lot of room there. How about wallpaper? Add a tiny desk and chair.

onthefence I love that bookshelf photo as well. It looks like a built in which I really like.

One thing I'd be cautious of is leaving yourself plenty of room there to move. If you round that corner in a hurry, would a piece of furniture be something you'd be running into often? I'm a klutz so I have to keep things like that in mind ;-)

olldbobbi onthefence, I'm a klutz too! I have to be careful around tall table lamps and 'floating' furniture!

Carolyn Albert-Kincl Design Good old standby Billy bookcases from Ikea would be wonderful there. Even if they take your eye upward, isn't it wonderful to have a place for all your books!

olldroo There are quite a few ideas books and photos on landings and nooks. Throw a few words in the search and see what you find. I'm trying to find one in particular without success.

Klutz No. 3 here. If you can walk into it, trip over it or stub your toe on it, I will.
