Fireplace surround help needed
We are trying to figure out what to do with our fireplace. It is kind of a wierd angle to the living room and also is angles at the ceiling with the vault. It looks funny right now because we removed 2 large bookshelves on each side that practically hid the fireplace.
We are going to paint the brass black and plan on removing the mantle and granite.
Just not sure what we should do? Tile and new wood surround, a type of rock???
Thank You

lefty47 HI -- It also looks like an odd place for a fireplace too. I am not a fan of having the TV above the fireplace also. I think a nice stacked ledge cut stone or a cultured stone or a tile . It depends on your style . If you lean more towards modern then something in a full sheet ,like a mahogany wood or distrest reclaimed wood or even a sheet of cold rolled steel.I think the area is too small to have a wood mantel surround , which would be more traditional.
