Is this room awkward?
I have opted for a informal look but not sure the overall effect is really working. I like parts of the room but not sure of the overall look. Does this furniture work or do I start again. All could go except dining room furniture ..... Help.

Dytecture Hi, there isn't really a 'conversational' seating arrangement. I would place the sofa in front of the window with the lounger angled at the corner where you have the sofa.

movethisnotthat lovely space ! , is the hutch 2 pieces ? If so, remove the top part and use just the base with some big causal pots and candles on it. If just one piece, replace the crystal with more "organic" pieces, pottery, basket, etc. Rugs would help make the space look more causal, slip covers on the wooden chairs would help with the look as well. These would be easy "tweaks" as you learn your new style and easier on the budget. A conversation area is needed in your room, an area rug will help with that too. Hope to see more pictures as you move things around. Have fun !!
