My dining room for the fifth time :p
So I purchased this wooden dining table,it is coming in about two weeks (but I can return it if I change my mind).it looks much better than in this picture. I really need some advice about chairs .I need to seriously start looking for them. I already asked but only one person on Houzz replied.:(Can you guys give some ideas. I searched thru Houzz photos and there is only two options that I liked but not sure if it would work for me.Here is my space and table that I purchased. Glass table is my old one. Thanks

judyg HEY, SONDRA, SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS, BUT THE KITTY IS HANGING OVER MY ARM, SNORING.

I LIKE THE TABLE AND IT GOES GREAT WITH (she's down) your brown and white rug. The rest of your apartment does not look Pottery Barn to me, so I am betting you want something more eclectic?

judyg Let me just link you to some that are fun. (or not) :

Aja Mazin My first thought is that adults do not like to eat sitting on benches.

Other than that, it is a lovely set.

sondramartina Yes you are right Judy I don't want Pottery Barn look. This is another one to complement coffee table but would leather chairs be too much leather?
sondramartina Aja I just got the table not the bench .
judyg Not at all, especially if you do the two colors as in the pix (that looks great!) or mix them with a different pair. What do you think of the three in the grouping?
sondramartina This is the one.Right grain look, size, with extensions 10-12 people can sit, price is ok

Aja Mazin sondramartina,

eh, nevermind!

judyg Check overstock.com. I got my dining chairs there and a few weeks later I was in a very nice furniture store in Boston, and there they were for $700.00 more per chair!

Anything like this chair…love the back, different than the ones around.
sondramartina I love that one too.I can buy it for 75-100$ per chair.

charro534 I think they have that Michael Thonet style chair on Overstock or World Market. I saw it online one day this week.
sondramartina Overstock has higher markups for Canada ,other sites dont even ship to Canada .

groveraxle This one has been on sale for $99 at Restoration Hardware for awhile.

sondramartina Is that one better than lets say white leather with polished chrome legs?
rluchinski Do you like the upholstered ones in the picture you posted. I think upholstered chairs would be nice in your room.
sondramartina I like upholstered chairs but I prefer low back style for more casual look.
rluchinski Don't know how to put a Houzz pic up here, but wondered if the Terai Folding chair in the Houzz products might be an option.
sondramartina Below the field for text there is option attach image. Before that save an image on your computer and than attach.

2920ka I bought this table from pottery barn less than 3 years ago and it scratches so easily!! I talked myself into keeping because of the distressed look, I thought scratches would blend in but now it looks terrible. Even tried to return it about 3 months ago. Seriously consider if you want to keep this table, especially if you have children!

sondramartina Thanks 2920ka. This table is from Pier 1. My cousin has one and it is good.

rluchinski Tried the copy and paste.... using a tablet...it won't copy and paste images...no url showing.....anyone else using a tablet?
rluchinski Ah! There....I emailed it to myself.... there are several options for upholstery with these chairs....
Terri Williams While I agree with Aja about the bench... I really like those "parson" chairs shown in the picture. They are available everywhere in solid leather or patterned upholstery and can slide right next to one another if you have a big family. ☺
4 months ago · ·
sondramartina The thing is I hate bonded leather. Any other material that does not try to copy the look of leather is fine but those shiny fake looking leather chairs...... Fabric chairs are great but kitty might like to use their backs as a nail file.
sondramartina It comes down to something like this. I can find these chairs reasonably priced and I believe they will complement rest of the room.
Terri Williams I'm not sure the chrome legged chairs work well with the rustic table style.
sondramartina Terri I like it how it looks on the pic above (livingroom dining room with white and black chairs-chrome legs). Isn't that kind of look that I would be able to achieve? Maybe I don't see where the catch is.
carbary Found these chairs on amazon. I think they would look good.
sondramartina Carbary thanks. I will consider that style for sure. Home Sense has lots of those, I can try and return if I don't like it. I can return table as well so I can experiment. Teri made me reconsidering chrome legs idea because of X shaped table legs.I can't find any photos with that combination. If you guys find it please post it,thanks.

Aja Mazin If this is what you are going for, then affirmative!
jccbaker Sondra, since you like wood and like eclectic, go to your local not-quite-antique store and pick out some mismatched dining chairs that you like. You could get six different chairs and cover the seats in the same fabric.
Aja Mazin orangecamera is doing that in pairs!
Terri Williams I think the chairs Carbaryl posted would be good. Interesting shape, contemporary, yet organic enough with the wooden legs that they wouldn't be too jarring with that table.
Ultimately, what works best is what you like though.

sondramartina Is this chair an option? To compliment gray sofa and chrome legs in living room ?
Aja Mazin sondramartina,

yes, but I would opt for 4 leg design.
sondramartina I too, like 4 legs better .Even hubby likes this chair(I am very surprised ) but my kids were shocked.

Aja Mazin Alert:

Normal weight people are reporting they crack.
