Need Opinions on Staircase replacement
So I am about to buy this home overlooking a Golf Course lot in TX. Here's the pic of the stair case .

After walking up, on the other side of the staircase, there is a drywall with three arches looking down to the family room. The area between those arches is a dry wall (You can somewhat see what I am saying from the pic). I am planning to remove the dry wall below those arches and replace them with a iron blusters and a railing. This, in my opinion, would make it look more open.

Also, I am evaluating the possibility of merging the three arches and having one large opening.

to make it look like this

except with iron railings.

Currently it just has a drywall in the place of those wooden railings.

It's an easy enough change, but people tell me that this will look worse than just having the drywall.

Just wanted to see everyone's opinions.
