Natalie Hi Lara---honestly, I think you should consider painting your walls a warmer neutral color-even a warm white because the room looks "cold". Reason: stone floors, modern furniture, and lack of wall color.
Love the idea of a shag rug, could be any color, just make certain it is large enough so all the front legs of the furniture, which surrounds it, rest upon the rug... Add LARGE art... Pics for inspiration. Hope it's helpful. Good Luck!
