Help us choose a ceiling!!!

We are building a 7200+ sf Santa Barbara style home and can't decide if we want to go with a simple beamed ceiling or a trussed fancy beamed ceiling. All opinions are welcome! Thanks for your input!

I prefer #1 because it feels airier and I'm lazy and hate cleaning those beams. I had them once and that was enough. ;-)
