Need help selecting an exterior color design

Our first home needs the exterior repainted. I appreciate your suggestions for a color(s) that would exhibit this beautiful home.

What a beautiful, classy home! I would stick to classy colors to match the architecture. Perhaps a medium gray on the house itself, black shutters and bright white trim. You can always add fun pops of color with plants and flowers.

Also, a mossy green would look nice with white trim and walnut shutters

One thing I would not do is paint the portico a different color than the body of the house. It stands on its own.

A blue like this would look good: Harbor Springs Residence Porch and Harbor Springs Residence.

This is a beautiful and unusal combination: Crisp Architects 1 and Crisp Architects 2, a similar color for the house would be sweet bluette by Benjamin Moore, and for the shutters, phillipsburg blue by Benjamin Moore. http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/sweetbluette http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/philipsburgblue

I agree with houssaon.. do NOT paint the portico a different color than the body of the house. I would suggest the shutters should be a darker shade of the house color, whatever you choose. I would Photoshop all color combinations that may appeal to you so you can have a better idea of the finished product.

Check sherwin williams library pewter for the shutters..and 75 percent of that color for the siding...50 percent of that color for the entranceway. White on window trims.

It's tough because the house to our left is all white and to the right pewter with white. So we do not want to compete with them. We prefer to provide a unique but classy personality to the house.
As you can see, there is a lot of green. I fear a moss color may cause the house to recede among the greenery. We would love the house to stand out without being loud, elegant but not flashy. Thank you for your kind comments. I appreciate your continual suggestions.

What colors do u like? If you want it to "stand out", it may compete. But it can be done tastefully.

I think you need to consider the roof color, which to me looks brown. Is it?

Looking off to the right near the fern, the roof is black. It looks brown from a distance in the sun.

Landscaping.

Trim back the overgrowth.

It looks like a scary, deserted house.

I would go with a gray.

I would remove the shutters.

When was it built?

Wow..I am surprised...thought it was older...I love the darker grey/charcoal I posted earlier...Not "loud" but impressive. This is a grand scale home/and it can handle it. And it seems a "mix" of a few styles...but done nicely...Not an expert but see aspects of several different styles...either way, it is stately.

It is a Luxury Home USA aka McMansion.!

The style originated in California in 1980.

We had one built last year.
[not the one I attached.]

Some of the "Mc Mansions" I have seen are hideous...this one is cool! Stately and nice lines...reminds me of a much older home..

Just needs freshening up; here are some similar house types with colors similar to yours. Good luck

not fond of the blue shutters, but try Dover Blue or Polo Blue, or Arrowhead Blue by Behr, or a dark grey like Benjamin Moore "Sea Pine

With a black roof, you have a wide range of opportunities for color. This gray with dark green shutters and white trim would be lovely: David Ludwig Studios. You could go all white with black shutters for a striking look: Paradise Cay Residence.

These are other options: Edgefield House and Woodland Manor.

dcapellan,

Is it stucco or siding or...?

Please consider removing the nonfunctioning shutters or painting them the same colour that you choose for your home.
Shutters chop up the elevation.

If you are going for elegance, go monochromatic.

If you choose gray. consider this from Benjamin Moore

The black window trim adds such simple elegance.

Wow, I looked up the McMansion. Talk about finding a diamond in the rough. Ok... Ok... A diamond to me at least, lol. The front of the house is stucco and the other sides are siding. These ideas are awesome. All of you have some fantastic ideas, the color schemes are ones that I would have never found on my own. I am excited. I'll keep receiving your ideas. The challenge with applying a dark grayish blue with white trim is that the neighbor did just that and it looks amazing. It's a lot like the grey house that Jayme posted on her "Love your house comment."

It is a diamond in the rough - just needs some polish and the proper setting.

Love the gray.- just paint the trim a lighter or darker gray or black.

Remove the discordant shutters for a more stately appearance.

Shutters date it.

I don't know if something like this would work, with 2 tones of grey? Or the closer shot of another home seems more beige vs. grey.

Hello again, I learned that the roof is actually brown and not black which I assume changes everything. We have received some great landscaping ideas which involves removing the large fern to the right of the house. So with a brown roof, would your ideas still apply? I am welcome to any fresh new ideas. The community contains many houses with the grayish blue configuration, some have pinkish exteriors. As I mentioned, I want mine to standout from the rest and perhaps inspire others. Thanks again for all your fantastic ideas.

@Aja How do you feel about a Library Pewter SW 0038 or Tony Taupe SW 7038 or Virtual Taupe SW 7039 for the stucco, Pure White SW 7005 for the trim and Ember SW 3029 for the door? SW is sherman williams.

Monochromatic color scheme will keep your house stately. Shutters should be the darkest of your 3 colors used. Any one of your 3 choices listed above would look beautiful. Your arches get lost behind the bushes. As noted above, a fresh new landscape would give your house the presence it justly deserves.
