Coffee table or no? Round? Square?
We recently purchased a very large leather reclining sectional for our family room. My question is do we need some kind of coffee table and if so, what kind? Currently we just have a big expanse of carpeted area which my three tween/teen sons use as a wrestling ring. I wasn't sure about placement of the table since the couch reclines and the foot part does come out quite a bit. Would a table look as though it is floating in the middle of the room? I wouldn't mind not having a table however the room looks unfinished and places to put drinks, etc. are minimal. Thanks!

Jayme Hobbs Yes to a table of some kind...they will jump and dive off it...make it sturdy! lol

Interiors International, Inc. Yes you need a table. It could be an over sized ottoman so the boys don't get hurt. Round or square either will work.

AMN My grandparents had six children. For their large livingroom, they had a very simple, old, round oak dining table cut down. It was one of the best looking coffee tables I've ever seen. You could sit 10 kids around that thing. It was crazy-sturdy and it's still in use to this day in one of the kids' homes.

Looked a lot like this -- only it had 4 straight legs and was much larger.

Something modular might be great for your family! This looks super fun!

Adele Park totally agree - area rug and an oversized ottoman would work. !

jnmmom Ok, I took the advice and found a rug I liked that fit my budget. Now my question is... Is it too small?

jnmmom Ugh. That's what I was afraid of. I got it at HomeGoods. I don't think I can find it bigger. Try, try again...

Jayme Hobbs Sorry!! I like it! Should cover a good portion in front of the sectional...Good color choices!

movethisnotthat nice colors, but does need to be bigger. Rug should not "float", it should be under the edges of the sectional/sofa.
