What to put behind an awkward diagonal tv space

Lindsey NovakJanuary 26, 2013
Recently, my husband and I moved the furniture around in our tiny 600 sqft apartment to create a bit more space. We decided to put the tv on a diagonal which opened up the living room tremendously. However, now we have the back side of the tv and stand showing as soon as you walk into the apartment. We have been trying to think of things that we can put behind the tv to make it look decent. Any ideas?

Personally, I think I would look for a corner media cabinet to fit your TV and then have a contractor build a small half wall behind it... This would give your entry space some definition as well... Wonder if this could be done in your apartment?

Yep. Corner media cabinet...with or without small wall behind. I a quick, cheap, fix would be a corner cabinet/TV stand. Ikea, etc. have dozens of them...all price ranges, all sizes.

How about a skinny bookshelf facing the door to back it up?

How about a folding screen/room divider behind the tv? Or a bushy plant?

Here are some photos from Houzz. I am sorry they do not enlarge on this post. Try entering "room divider" in the PHOTOS search box.

Replace the tv stand with one that is finished on all sides and you can hide the wires etc...
