Need help with Kitchen HOOD

We are close to our final kitchen layout, but we need HELP:

-->what kind of HOOD do we put over our Viking 48" Range?

Chimney or custom built with insert?

Concerned that the backsplash might be overkill with a chimney hood. Concerned windows might look strong with built-out insert.

No,question...use a viking hood. The all stainless one with the bar. You have a nice amount of cabinetry. A large picture window. The room can handle a 48" hood. On my site is a picture of a 60" viking range that has a mated hood. Take a look.

the hood is focal point of this kitchen. if you wish to give it a contemporary, bold feel, do stainless hood. if you wish it to blend more with cabinetry, then do a custom wood'/painted hood. you don't mention what materials you are using. I find the modern hood depicted like chimney gets lost between the windows & I feel it won't have enough impact without a very bold tile behind. May be a real disconnect in end so be very careful.

To me it looks like your hood is too small. It looks as if it is floating and not connected to anything.

I am going to laugh now because your kitchen layout is very very similar to mine. There are minimal differences. I love the built in viking hood over the range you have a 6 burner with a griddle so do I. Here are some pictures.
