Need ideas for incorporating this platform into my tiny living room
Other tenants have used it for televisions. I am thinking of having a custom cushion made and using lovely throw pillows around the wall. Walls must stay white so I'm using shades of white and blush to decorate. Most color will come from leather chairs and wood.

Jayme Hobbs Is it supposed to be a built in table?

Dee Gilliam It's actually a raised floor to accommodate a staircase directly underneath leading to the basement.

Jayme Hobbs It that is your intended use, I would put a cover of some kind over it to give it a "daybed" effect...

Jayme Hobbs You could also lay some large throw pillows around the base to make it look more like a daybed/lounging area.

Aggie Purvinska If you can extend it (frame it) to the other wall, upholster it, it would make for a great window seat/ reading area. Also install some open shelves on the left side from window.

Jayme Hobbs I was thinking that too, but it's for a staircase cover...do you use it?

Dee Gilliam I plan to use it. It's sturdy enough to sit or lay on.

Dee Gilliam Love these ideas! Thanks so much.

Jayme Hobbs I mean, do you use the stairway? Is that box removable and do u need to open it at any time? Just asking as I though of extending it also but didn't know if you need to pull that top off at any time.

Dee Gilliam The stairway is only accessible from outside of the building. The box is firmly in place.

Jayme Hobbs That's good...then you could "fill in" that area and it would look more like a daybed type thing....that staircase cover threw me..was thinking..."how r they going to use it"...lol!! Post us the results!!

Dee Gilliam Will do. Thanks again! Decided to go with the cover idea, have a cushion made to lay on the cover and add throw pillows around the walls/windows.

Dee Gilliam Jayme, your idea for a base cover is brilliant! The design is under way. I haven't moved in yet but the landlord has moved out (along with the two chairs and big tv pictured). Pictures shortly!

Laurie Landry Building it out to the other wall and making it into a day bed is a fabulous idea! It would look great. It's not like the floor to the left of it is very usable as it is.
